Q&A: Can someone help me in converting rates?

Question by Accidental x Love: Can someone help me in converting rates?
I don’t get it. LIke, 30 miles per hour to x feet per second. My textbook gives me this way where i turn them into fractions and mutliply them, but then it’s like ‘divide similar terms and simplify’ and it shows a buncch of corssing out and I have no idea what it expects me do. Can somebody explain this to me in a clear way simply how I would convert something like that?

hmm.. i could explain this is i were writing it down but it is kind of hard to do online… lets try

1 mile=5280 feet
so 30 miles =30* 5280 =15840miles

1 hour =60 minutes
60 seconds in a minute
1 hour= 60minutes*60 seconds=3600 seconds.

i hope that helpedd…
